How it works
- Two heaped teaspoons of hot chocolate powder.
- A sprinkle of mini marshmallows, vegetarian or halal.
- Gather the top and tie it with about 30cm of ribbon.
- Punch a hole in the note and tie it on with the same ribbon.
The students running the event make the bags up themselves, in one session a day or two before.
The slides explain what it is, prompt students to think about who to send one to, and end with your stall dates, place, price and charity. Edit anything in square brackets first.
Students pay, name a recipient and their form, and write the note there and then. Nothing goes home to be filled in later. Log each order in the tracker as you take it.
Anonymous means the writer is not named. It does not mean nobody checks: an adult reads every note and sets aside anything unkind.
The students do this themselves in one packing session, then sort by form using the tracker and hand them out first thing on the 14th.
Hot chocolate powder contains milk and often soy. Buy vegetarian or halal marshmallows, because standard ones are made with pork gelatine, and keep an empty packet of each so a form tutor can check against the allergy register before anything is handed out.
Get the event
This is a bigger event than most on the site, but the student council can run nearly all of it: the shopping, a stall at break for a week, one packing session and an early start on the 14th. The pack has the shopping list, a rough timetable and the printable notes, and the tracker keeps the orders, forms and money straight. You decide the price, the dates and the charity.
