How it works
The assembly is twelve slides and takes about ten minutes. It opens with a student or a teacher tapping out a song for the hall to guess, and the next slide links it to this year’s theme. After that come four research findings, with the study named on each slide, and finally the week ahead.
The week starts with a bingo card of easy questions. Next, one question goes up on a board, and each year group answers it on a different colour of note.
Students describe their day in five words, anonymously, and then younger students put questions to a panel of older ones.
Staff share photos of themselves from when they were at school, each with a line on what they worried about at 13, and students use a guess sheet to work out who is who.
If your school has a student council, this is a good week for them to run. They can collect the staff photos, keep the board stocked and sit on Thursday’s panel, with a member of staff in the room each lunchtime.
Here is the week, day by day. An adult reads every sticky note, card and question before it goes up or is answered.
