Odd Socks Day
The whole school wears odd socks with their uniform, all day.
Mix-It-Up Lunch
Students sit somewhere new, with a topic card on every table.
Friendship Bracelets
Students make two at lunch, keep one and give one away.
The Group Chat
Students annotate a group chat on the wall to show where it went wrong.
The Positivity Tree
Students write something good about somebody and hang it up.
Each day works on its own, so if one of them falls through, the rest of the week can still go ahead.
The assembly has ten slides. It starts with what bullying looks like, then has a slide for each day of the week, and ends with how to report something. Before you show it, fill in the rooms, the times and your school’s reporting route.
The only things you need to buy are embroidery thread, beads and string. Everything else, including the leaves, the table cards, the group chat and the wall prompts, prints from the resource pack.
For Odd Socks Day, all you need to do is let form tutors know in advance. Each of the other four days needs one member of staff to run it and about forty minutes.
A week about bullying can bring back difficult memories for some students, and some of them may want to talk to someone about something that has happened. Before Monday, make sure everyone running a lunchtime knows who to pass a disclosure on to. If a student does come to you, anything that is a safeguarding concern still goes to your safeguarding lead the same day, and The Quiet Word is a short guide to the conversation itself.
