How it works
The assembly is eleven slides and takes about ten minutes. It starts with a show of hands on resolutions, then gives four research findings with the study named on each slide, and ends with the week ahead.
Students write three things that went well last term, then pick one thing to get better at by half term and make it small enough to start that week.
Next, students plan what they will do when it gets hard, then take their first step and write down the date.
Every Friday, students spend two minutes writing one line on the back of the sheet about what they did that week. At half term, they look back over the whole sheet.
Keep the goals small and private, and steer students away from goals about weight, food or how they look.
Here is the week, day by day. Each morning takes five minutes and uses one slide and one box on the student sheet.
