How it works
The first of five statements
“Hard work matters more than talent.”
The other four are in the slides, one to a morning.
One at each end of the room, so that agree and disagree are as far apart as the room allows. They only go up once, and they can stay up all year.
Read it out once, without saying what you think of it. There is no right answer to any of them.
Anywhere between the two signs, and the middle is a real answer. Ask two or three of them why they stood where they did, then ask whether anybody wants to move.

Two pages to print, and only once: the agree sign and the disagree sign. Five statements are in the slides, one to a morning, and five more are on the teacher guide. After those, the last slide asks students to bring you one of their own. Make sure you come back for Volume Two. Follow @thepastoralguide to hear when it lands.
The activity slides
How it works, then five statements one to a slide, and a last slide asking students for one of their own.
