How it works
The five mornings
Monday
Something I am taking with me.
Tuesday
Somebody here I want to thank.
Wednesday
What I would tell first-day me.
Thursday
Something I will not miss.
Friday
To this form.
Students fill in one card each morning. The tutor keeps the cards, and they are read out on the last morning by whoever wrote them.
Each morning, put the prompt up and ask everyone to write a sentence or two on that day’s card. Collect the cards in and keep them safe. Nobody reads anything out yet.
The last card is a sentence to the whole form, and it is the only one that is always read out. Students who want to can read out their earlier cards as well.
On the last morning, the tutor hands the cards back. Give the reading as much time as it needs. Anyone who does not want to read can hand their cards to the tutor to read instead, or keep them.
Some students are leaving a school that has not been kind to them, and one or two may be going through big changes at home as well. Because of this, nobody has to read anything out, the Thursday card is written so that it can be about a subject rather than a person, and the tutor reads every card before Friday.
